 Jungfraujoch is a is a mountain in the vicinity of Interlaken, one of the highest peaks of Switzerland. The name (“Young Maiden”) she owes to the convent, once located at its foot. Now in its place is the church. 

 

At the beginning of the twentieth century, a railway was built on the Jungfrau, which is the highest mountain in Europe. This road is the pride of Interlaken and Switzerland, a landmark showing the high skill of Swiss engineers. Its destination is on the Jungfraujoch Pass (3454 m above sea level), where galleries are cut and a weather station and an observatory are built. From here from the observation deck "Sphinx" a circular panorama of the Alpine mountains and lakes opens.

 

Tourists can visit the following sights on the Jungfraujoch: The Ice Palace, in which all the exhibits are made of ice, restaurants with panoramic windows, a visual sound show, a science exhibition, and participate in dog sledding (in summer). If you gooing to Jungfraujoch, do not forget warm clothes and sunglasses.

 

How to get to Jungfrau Region

 

Flight to Zurich or Geneva, then by train to the main transport interchange of the resort - the town of Interlaken. 

The train from Zurich with a transfer in Bern takes about 2 hours, tickets from 70 CHF . 

From Geneva, the journey is almost 3 hours, but the price is almost the same - 72 CHF one way. Trains run in both directions every hour and in winter even more often. 

 

From the Interlaken-Ost station, trains diverge to the towns and resorts - Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Klein Scheidegg, Murren, Wengen. 

The journey takes from 30 minutes to 2 hours, the price depends on the distance - the ticket to Grindelwald costs from 12 CHF , a trip with a transfer to Klein Scheidegg will have to pay around 41 CHF , and the road with two changes to the station on Jungfraujoch will cost 105 CHF .
